Radical Alkynylations with EthynylBenziodoXolones: from Photocatalysis to Direct Excitation
نویسندگان
چکیده
Ethynylbenziodoxolones (EBXs) have recently emerged as potent reagents for the alkynylation of radicals. Their combination with photocatalysis allows synthesis valuable alkynes at room temperature. Herein, we discuss two photomediated strategies internal alkynes. The first transformation is a 1,2-oxyalkynylation N- and O-alkenes using 4ClCzIPN photocatalyst. second strategy makes use EBXs strong photooxidants allowing oxidation variety substrates no need

Evidence and implications of direct charge excitation as the dominant mechanism in plasmon-mediated photocatalysis
Plasmonic metal nanoparticles enhance chemical reactions on their surface when illuminated with light of particular frequencies. It has been shown that these processes are driven by excitation of localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR). The interaction of LSPR with adsorbate orbitals can lead to the injection of energized charge carriers into the adsorbate, which can result in chemical trans...
متن کاملVisible Light Photocatalysis: The Development of Photocatalytic Radical Ion Cycloadditions.
Photochemistry has the potential to significantly impact multiple aspects of chemical synthesis, in part because photoinduced reactions can be used to construct molecular architectures that would otherwise be difficult to produce. Nevertheless, organic chemists have been slow to embrace photochemical synthesis because of technical complications associated with the use of ultraviolet light. Our ...
متن کاملTitania photocatalysis through two-photon band-gap excitation with built-in rhodium redox mediator.
Titania particles modified with an extremely small amount (<0.01 mol%) of a rhodium species exhibited photocatalytic activity for the oxidative decomposition of acetaldehyde in air under visible-light irradiation. The reaction proceeded via a two-photon band-gap excitation mechanism resembling the Z-scheme with an external redox couple, using a built-in Rh(iii)-Rh(iv) redox couple.
متن کاملVisible-Light Organic Photocatalysis for Latent Radical-Initiated Polymerization via 2e–/1H+ Transfers: Initiation with Parallels to Photosynthesis
We report the latent production of free radicals from energy stored in a redox potential through a 2e(-)/1H(+) transfer process, analogous to energy harvesting in photosynthesis, using visible-light organic photoredox catalysis (photocatalysis) of methylene blue chromophore with a sacrificial sterically hindered amine reductant and an onium salt oxidant. This enables light-initiated free-radica...
متن کاملPhotocatalysis
Finding long-term solutions to meet the growing energy demands of the human society is one of the greatest challenges of our age. Photocatalysis, a topic of many decades of attention, has recently received renewed and more intense interest in developing innovative solutions towards achieving our sustainability goal. Though immensely inspired by natural photosynthesis, the research on artificial...
